A very important piece of advice

No matter the situation, be very careful of demonizing the other. No matter the topic, the person on the other side of the fence isn’t a faceless enemy but a fellow human being.

  1. There’s this part in Baldios where they cut back to a soldier on the other side a couple times, and he’s with his girlfriend all “don’t worry girl, we’re gonna have a better life when we just invade this stupid planet”. He’s a simple grunt who has no other purpose in the movie aside from coincidentally being at the same battles that the hero is, and saying to himself “I’M DOING THIS FOR YOU, GIRLFRIEND CHARACTER”.

So basically, don’t demonize the other, but also be concerned that you might be writing them poorly.

  2. @Daryl: Or, perhaps, is it you who abandoned your humanity, for a hollow, fragile shell of a man, cunningly shaped like Duke Togo, a man who feels no emotions, and feels no emotions over feeling no emotions. Is that not the very definition of abandonment of humanity itself?

To feel is to be human! To feel is to be ALIVE!
