Yeah, like me. But like, why would I argue against a pun? I do not ship history.

We often are beholden to it. Using your train of thought (black man becoming president), a person born into slavery is beholden to history. They are beholden to their family’s history as slaves.
An example of how entire countries are beholden to history: One generation is beholden to the debts left by the previous generation. People can inherit wars, disease, and even prejudices.
It’s the way it is.
